Shanghai Windows

Edwards Moore was selected as one of ten practices by The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) London for its 2015 Shanghai Windows exhibition.

"Now in its third year, RIBA’s Shanghai Windows pairs RIBA Chartered Architects with local and international retailers to create original and thought provoking temporary architectural installations around the prosperous Xintiandi shopping and entertainment district in central Shanghai".

Chamber  is a site-specific response to the theme of threshold and entry to the Matchbox  women’s clothing boutique, located within the Xintiandi retail centre. It aims to create a new,  in-between space that extends and heightens the experience of  arrival , leading visitors to the interior of the store via a fluid-like reflective floor. The chamber is formed from a series of  self-supporting aluminium panels which create an organic shaped  mirrored space. Elements of the store’s unique brand extend into the chamber for display,  such as  paper chairs and hand-made fabrics
